What role does the Navy play in the current war?
and anybody out there been in the Navy and can tell the truth about it?
i proudly served in the navy for 6 yrs before i decided to get out in order to pursue a college degree full time (thank you GI bill)...during those years, i have been stationed on board 3 different ships...carrier,cruiser, amphibian LPD....i can assure you that the us navy plays a vital role in this current and future wars...now back to your question....1) carriers launch air crafts to support troops on the ground...2)cruisers/destroyers launch missiles to destroy military targets...3)amphibious ships carry marines and supplies to the battle front...4) navy corpsman's serve along marine/army/airforce regiments...5) EODs, navy specialist who are sent to Iraq/Afghanistan to identify and disable explosive devises...6) elite forces such as the SEALs who operate on covert operations.......there are also many more roles that i have not listed but i promise you that the navy is a major contributor to this war against terrorism.
